While the entire world is facing this deadly COVID 19 pandemic, some people have been putting all their efforts to help the poor and needy. Apart from leaving this situation on the government, they have taken a step forward for the betterment of the underprivileged on their behalf.
Talking about one such celebrity, Vikas Khanna, a reputed Michelin Star chief has taken this positive initiative of helping all the families going through the difficulty caused by COVID 19.
With his #feedindia tweet on 1st April, he has not just been able to provide 30 million meals but has also had a list of essentials like 2 million masks, 3 million sanitary napkins, and 4000000 slippers for the individuals who have been affected by this outrageous situation.
After facing the hardship by dishonest suppliers, vendors, succumbing truck owners, and after paying double prices to them, he had almost lost hope of helping others but with the constant support of his mother, he didn’t give up. Vikas Khanna along with 90 volunteers, have made a tremendous impact by offering essential commodities at the old age homes, orphanages, leprosy hospitals, transgenders, street vendors, sex workers, migrant workers and thousands of others around 125 Indian cities.
With this initiative taken by the renowned chef, more than 50 reputed brands have shown their support to his #FeedIndia initiative. Referring to one of his tweets, he also pledged to provide more than 2 million meals to the people who suffered the disaster of flood in Assam and Bihar.
Witnessing the economic crisis, Indian street vendors are facing in this pandemic. He further assures to provide 10 million meals to the street vendors in India, for which he has made a list of 20 Indian cities. This initiative will go on for a minimum of 3 months.
With his mindful thoughts, he has been absolutely encouraging to the ones who are capable of lending hands to the needy. According to him, it’s the time where the country holds hands together and overcomes this challenging time.
Keeping a positive attitude towards this pandemic is a vital part of the process to overcome this tough situation. He believes more food world celebrities should join hands in his initiative to help the sufferers with needed essentials than captivating the interest of food lovers with lavishing dishes. Khanna also states that pointing the government for bare support to the public in this situation is not sensible as the circumstances are absolutely dynamic.
