It’s that time of the year, and we can’t help but cheer with excitement. IPL has begun, but it is a little different this time. The novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 has made the world hit rock bottom, and just like all our lives, IPL is not going to be held the way it used to. BCCI has come up with a fresh set of IPL rules and regulations to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
Some of the prominent IPL rules that have been curated, specifically for this year are as follows:
This concept has been adopted by several sports tournaments all across the world, and it is going to be a part of IPL as well. According to this, everyone involved in the event will be tested, kept in quarantine, and then tested many more times. As soon as all the tests come negative, it will ensure that the person does not have the virus, and hence, he will be allowed inside the ‘bubble’, which is basically a safe place to come in physical contact with others. It is not allowed for the people of the bio bubble to interact with anyone outside it.
- No Family Members Are Allowed On The Team Bus
The team players are allowed to bring their families to the UAE. However, they are not allowed to sit on the team bus. Moreover, the team owners have been given the advice to keep all the players in different hotels. The meetings will also take place online.
- Saliva Ban
This rule states that no player is allowed to use saliva on the ball. It has made everything a little challenging for some bowlers, but it is for everyone’s safety.
- Electronic Team Sheets
This year, instead of a physical copy of the team sheet (players who will participate in the match), the team sheets will be sent in an electronic mode.
- Doctors Will Ensure That There Is No Breach Of The IPL Rules Of The Bio Bubble
Every team will have a doctor who will ensure that there is no breach of the IPL rules of the bio bubble.
- No Sharing
Under this rule, the players won’t be allowed to share their equipment, bottles, and other personal belongings. The players will have to mention their names on the bottles and other items.
- Daily Temperature Check
Even after taking all the necessary precautions, there remains a possibility of contracting the virus. Hence, daily temperature checks will take place as an extra measure to keep everyone safe.
- Separate AC And No Common Dining
The players will have to order the food in the hotel room. Moreover, the air conditioning system for the rooms of the players will be different so that the air does not spread in the hotel.
- Empty Stands Will Be Used As Dressing Rooms
With a motive to maintain social distancing, the players are recommended to use the stands as their dressing rooms. The players are not even allowed to shake hands, or touch trophies.
- Installation Of Shycocan
Shycocan is a modified and a better version of an air purifier. It is said to kill 99.9% of the virus in the air. Hence, it will keep the air clean.
We know what you are thinking now. Yes, that’s a lot of changes. However, it is necessary to keep everyone safe. On the bright side, we still get to watch our favorite teams and enjoy the IPL season with zeal, and all our loved ones.
